Kylie Jenner Is America’s TV-14 Sweetheart (Preview)

Ay.

I think Kylie Jenner is important to us. Even those of you reading this who saw the title and said, “Lemme see what kinda nonsense this hwyte bitch is up to now.” I think she’s so important to us, I felt compelled enough to write damn near 2000 words on Vocally about the documentary she released capturing the experience of her first pregnancy. Here are a few of those words:

While her reality star siblings are also used to oversharing, Kylie is the only Kardashian-Jenner sister that presents as a typical American girl. Part of Kylie’s enhanced relatability is that we literally watched her grow up. Being the youngest during the emergence of Keeping Up With The Kardashians has allowed us to actually witness the transition from being around famous people, to realizing you are famous for being around those famous people, and then capitalizing on it.

Americans need to be able to complain about the Kardashians. How else are we supposed to cope with wage slavery, or determine where we stand on uncomfortable topics such as interracial relationships and women’s sexuality? Whereas sitcoms present families to represent where society is at in that very moment, the Kardashian-Jenners have always annoyed us because they’re at where many want to be at—rich, self-sufficient, attention-getting—but have achieved it in ways that test people’s convictions.

I love writing for Vocally, and I hope you enjoy the rest of the piece. While you’re at it, give one of their fabulous female writers a shot and click on one of those eye-catching thumbnails. The articles are even better!

Don’t worry, I’ll still be writing full articles on ATC. But y’all know I gotta get money off of this blogging shit somehow, right? Can’t knock the hustle.

If you don’t wanna wait for these bullshit previews, start here for a brief selection of my Vocally articles. If that’s too much work, don’t trip, I’ll be comin’ back with more of these in no time.
